CORA

AI College Counselor

Let's begin

Hi! I'm CORA — your College Opportunity & Readiness Advisor. I'm going to ask you 5 quick questions to show you how Scholar Placement AI works. Ready to find your colleges?

What you get

Choosing a college is three hard problems, not one

Which colleges are right for you. What they will actually cost your family. And how to get in. Most families solve them with browser tabs, a spreadsheet, and twenty minutes of a counselor's time. Here is what we do instead.

Start here

Free

See your top 3 matches before you pay anything

Answer eleven questions — including which colleges you already have your heart set on — and we run the same matching engine the paid report uses. You get three real schools, a real fit score for each, and an honest answer about where your own picks landed. No account, no card, nothing saved.

01The right colleges

A list built around you, not around rankings

We score every one of 3,200+ degree-granting U.S. colleges against your academics, money, location, major, interests, career goals and campus life — then show you the ones that fit, sorted into what's likely, what's a target, and what's a genuine stretch.

Every factor, fully explained

Both plans

Every school on your list comes with each scored factor written out in plain English — including which ones we could not measure, and why.

Why it matters: A ranking you cannot interrogate is just someone else's opinion. This one shows its work, so you can argue with it.

  • CORA, your AI counselor

    Both plans

Ask her anything about your list — why a school is on it, what a tier means, what to do next. She knows your full profile and every school you matched with.

Why it matters: A school counselor might have 400 students. CORA has one, and she is awake at 11pm the night before a deadline.

  • Talk to her out loud

    Both plans

CORA speaks, and you can speak back. No typing required.

Why it matters: Included on every plan and never restricted — reading a wall of college advice is hard work, and hearing it explained is not.

  • Saved list and map

    Both plans

Save any school and see all of them on one interactive map.

Why it matters: Distance stops being an abstraction when you can see how far from home you would actually be.

  • Your dream schools, scored honestly

    Six Months

Name the colleges you already have in mind and we score each one for you — including when it did not make your list, and which of your own answers ruled it out.

Why it matters: Most tools quietly drop the school you care most about. This one tells you where it stands and why.

  • Re-match all year

    Six Months

Retake the assessment whenever your grades, scores or plans change, and see exactly which schools moved and which answer moved them.

Why it matters: The student you are in September is not the student you are in January. Your list should move with you.

  • What-if scenarios

    Six Months

See how a higher GPA or a better test score would change your list — before you decide whether a retake is worth it.

Why it matters: Turns 'should I sit the SAT again?' into a question with an actual answer.

02What it really costs

The sticker price is not your price

Published tuition tells your family almost nothing. What matters is what people in your income bracket actually pay at that specific school — and what the degree earns afterwards.

Financial aid estimate, for your income

Six Months

What families in the federal income band yours falls in actually pay at each school after grant aid — not the all-families average — beside the published tuition, your likely contribution, and any gap left over.

Why it matters: The blended average overstates the cost to a lower-income family at a generous college by around six times. Families rule out schools they could have afforded, on a number that was never about them. Where the published figure isn't about you either — an out-of-state public quotes an in-state price — it says so rather than quoting you someone else's.

  • What graduates of your major actually earn

    Both plans

Real federal earnings data for your specific major at each school, with the national figure for that same major beside it.

Why it matters: A degree is not one number. Knowing what your subject pays at that school beats knowing what the campus averages.

  • Where graduates end up working

    Six Months

The industries graduates of your major from that school actually go into, and how many stay in the state.

Why it matters: Answers the question behind the question: what does this degree turn into?

03Getting in, and staying on top of it

The part that takes the rest of the year

Once you know where you're applying, the work starts: essays, recommendations, interviews, deadlines, and a decision at the end of it. This is the half of the process nobody hands you a tool for.

CORA coaches the whole application

Six Months

Essay feedback on your actual drafts, a mock interview you can redo as many times as you like, and guidance on who to ask for recommendations and how.

Why it matters: These are the parts of the application where a good advisor changes the outcome — and the parts most students go through with nobody reading over their shoulder.

  • Score targets

    Six Months

Where your SAT or ACT sits against each school's published range, and what to aim for. Schools that publish no range are reported as publishing no range.

Why it matters: Tells you which retake would change something and which would not.

  • Essay feedback

    Six Months

Paste a draft and CORA gives specific, direct notes on it. Unlimited.

Why it matters: The essay is the one part of the application you fully control, and most students never get a second reader.

  • Recommendation letter guidance

    Six Months

Who to ask, how to ask them, and what to give them so the letter is specific rather than generic.

Why it matters: A strong letter usually comes from a student who made it easy to write.

  • Mock admissions interview

    Six Months

Practise with CORA and get feedback on your answers.

Why it matters: Nobody's first interview should be a real one.

  • Application tracker and deadline reminders

    Six Months

Track every saved school's deadlines and where each application stands — and get an email before each one, on the schedule you choose.

Why it matters: Application season is a logistics problem before it is anything else, and the deadline you forget is the one nobody reminded you about.

  • Side-by-side comparison

    Six Months

Put up to four schools next to each other on cost, outcomes and fit.

Why it matters: The final decision is always a comparison, and it should not be made from four browser tabs.

  • Share with a counselor or parent

    Six Months

A read-only link to your report that anyone can open.

Why it matters: The people helping you decide should be able to see what you are looking at.

  • PDF export

    Both plans

Your whole report as a document you can print or email.

Why it matters: For the counselor meeting, the kitchen table, and the version that still exists when your access ends.

Testimonials

In their words

What impressed me most is how Scholar Placement AI treats a student as more than a GPA and a test score. It weighs financial fit, career trajectory, campus culture, even artistic and athletic interests — the kind of complete picture a great counselor might build for one or two students they know well, but never has the time to build for every student on their caseload. CORA gives every individual student that same level of attention, anytime they need it. This is the kind of tool our schools have needed for a long time. Guidance counselors can provide a wide range of educational options for post-high-school students that they may not be aware of or have had experience with.
Dr. Gloria Zucker
Throughout my career in education, I've learned that talent is rarely the obstacle—information is. I've seen bright, hardworking students make one of the biggest decisions of their lives without the knowledge or guidance needed to understand all of their options. Scholar Placement AI changes that. It goes beyond recommending colleges by helping students and families see what those choices can lead to: graduate employment, earning potential, career pathways, and the long-term value of a degree. Instead of choosing based on familiarity or assumptions, families can make decisions grounded in data, opportunity, and confidence.
